Giving Thanks + Giving Back

From everyone at the co-op: Our hearts go out to everyone in the path of Hurricane Ian. That includes our fellow natural food warehouse employees.

Most of the groceries we sell come from a warehouse in Sarasota. Thankfully, the disruption was minimal, and this week the trucks are full and running on time. The warehouse provided hotel rooms, showers and meals to any staff that was displaced after the storm passed through. We’re grateful for their endurance, and we wish them fortitude as so many Floridians rebuild their homes and lives.

Looking ahead, November is traditionally a month to give thanks. And this year the co-op is celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday by giving back.

On November 3rd, we’ll be hosting a Friendsgiving Feast to benefit the Florida Governor’s Council on Indian Affairs.

While the name of the organization sounds like it’s part of the government, it’s actually a non-profit located here in Tallahassee that promotes “economic self-sufficiency and self-determination of American Indians and Native Americans since 1974.”

From 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, Nov. 3rd, you can enjoy a full Thanksgiving dinner entirely prepared by our staff. Sample autumn salads and seasonal appetizers, as well as turkey, ham, a house made vegan entrée with all the sides in both traditional and vegan or gluten-free options. Wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Our fabulous baker Ken will staff the Pie Bar where you’ll get samples of our holiday desserts.

Not only will a portion the Friendsgiving Feast proceeds benefit the Council on Indian Affairs, but it will also be the recipient of our November Change for the Community donation drive.

Forms will soon be available to pre-order holiday entrees and sides from our Deli. Tickets go on sale next week and you can order them online.
